Located on the Saryu River in Uttar Pradesh, India, Ayodhya is the birthplace of Lord Ram and the location of the epic Ramcharit Manas (Ramayana). Due to the fact that it is the birthplace of Lord Ram, Ayodhya (Awadh) is considered one of the seven most significant Hindu pilgrimage destinations, or Saptapuri.
Geography and Climate
The humid subtropical climate of central India is typical of Ayodhya. Summers are long, hot, and dry, with an average daily temperature of about 32°C. They last from late March to the middle of June.The monsoon season, which follows, lasts until October and has an average temperature of about 28°C and generally 1067 mm of precipitation yearly.Early November marks the beginning of winter, which lasts until the end of January. There is a brief springtime in February and early March, when temperatures are mild—about 16°C—but at night they can drop.

Ayodhya is an important place of pilgrimage for the Hindus. A verse in the Garuda Purana names Ayodhya among the most sacred and foremost cities , the others being Mathura, Haridwar, Kashi, Kanchi Avantika(Ujjain)and Dwarka.
